The University of Surrey in partnership with Psychological Service providers across Surrey & West Sussex are looking to recruit and train
Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapists as part of the NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression programme (formally IAPT). We train individuals to deliver evidence based
psychological therapy on a
one year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Intervention (CBT).
Please be aware that by applying for this position, your

in the region - Mind Matters/We Are With You/Centre for Psychology/DHC
Talking Therapies/NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies. You
will be asked to indicate in order of preference from 1 (first) - 5 (least) the service you wish to be employed by.
Main duties of the job
The training programme consists of three working days within one
of the following services: Mind Matters (Surrey & Borders Partnership
Foundation NHS Trust: SABP), We Are With You, Centre for Psychology, Dorking
Health Care (DHC) Talking Therapies or NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies,
and two days at the University, taught by experts in the field.
The pay scale stated reflects all
the pay scales across providers, please see individual provider websites for
an exact salary figure, contract terms and location.
Applications are invited from a range of core mental health professions including: Applied psychologists, GP's, Mental Health Nurses, Psychotherapists, Counsellors,
Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Psychological Wellbeing
Practitioners. Applicants without a core profession (such as Psychological
Wellbeing Practitioners or Counsellors without UKCP or BACP accreditation) must
be able to meet the required KSA criteria (see BABCP.com).

- Minimum two years full-time equivalent experience working clinically in a mental health setting. Candidates who are qualified as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (or have received NHS funding for another Psychological Professions Training Programme) must have two years post-qualification experience (taken from the date of their exam board) before they can be eligible for further NHS funding for this course. Please confirm you have 2 full years post qualification experience.
Desirable
- Experience of working from a CBT perspective
- Experience working in primary care
- Experience working with anxiety disorders and depression

- Either a BABCP recognised core professional training OR Qualify for BABCP Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) criteria (KSA portfolio expected at interview) - please state Core profession or KSA.
- Minimum 2:2 in a UK undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent that the University of Surrey accepts) - please state degree classification
Desirable
- Introductory training in CBT
- Masters degree in field of mental health
