NHS England in East of England is committed to providing outstanding regional training, ensuring it is accessible to all trainees. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the East of England region's Virtual Imaging Academy, working to create learning material, courses and assessments in the field of Imaging.
The East of England Imaging Academy is keen to develop the capacity in region to provide medical trainee learning for imaging and look to expand the region's capacity for service delivery in this area; also equipping nurses and AHPs with the required skills to support the medical workforce.
The consultant leads will work closely with the Academy Development Lead and the Virtual Imaging Academy faculty in leading the delivery of the Virtual Imaging Academy structure and operating model, to develop learning materials and assessments in a variety of subspecialties within imaging, utilising our iCode and DetectedX learning platforms as well as other learning resources available to the Academy.
To this aim we plan to appoint consultants into 5 roles (1PA each) to support the development and delivery of learning materials for the East of England Virtual Imaging Academy. The sub-specialty areas of need are:
o Paediatrics
o Cardiovascular
o Musculoskeletal
o Head & Neck
o Genito-urinary
Main duties of the job
- Work with Academy faculty to identify areas of learning need within imaging across the East of England region and how these can best be supported using the Academy's learning platforms and resources.
- Upload high quality teaching cases to the Academy's iCode and DetectedX learning platforms for use in learning modules and assessments.
- Assess the quality of teaching cases uploaded to iCode by other PACS users across the region, and incorporate the best of these cases into formal learning modules and assessments.
- Create learning modules and assessments appropriate for radiology trainees, radiographers, sonographers, junior doctors, medical students and other health professionals with an imaging learning need.
- Work with the NHS England WTE regional team and the Academy's leadership to develop and promote the Academy across the region's Trusts.
- Roll out delivery of your teaching and assessment projects across the East of England.
- Use and promote simulation techniques to improve imaging and procedural training across the East of England.

The role of Sub-Speciality Training Programme Lead is to work with and support the Academy Development Lead, the Postgraduate Dean and the Regional Team in leading the delivery of the Virtual Imaging Academy structure and operating model. The successful candidate will be passionate about the delivery and management of imaging education and training in the East of England and a leading expert in the field.
The post holder will promote and strengthen the practice of lifelong learning along the professional development continuum from qualification to retirement.
The successful candidate will show an understanding ofimportant contribution made by all members ofthe multi-professional health careteam, including support staff as well as clinicians. They will be committed to the development of the current and future imaging workforce and demonstrate strategic thinking and innovative problem solving when approaching the complex challenge of delivering multi-professional education. This will need to be done in partnership with colleagues from the NHSE East of England Diagnostics team, particularly their Clinical and Transformational Imaging Leads.
The successful candidate will support and provide guidance to a number of different groups to ensure high quality delivery of imaging training, both medical and clinical.
A Sub-Speciality Training Lead / speciality Training Programme Director (TPD) is a member of the Speciality Training Committee (STC) who is managerially responsible to the Postgraduate Dean for the delivery of training in that speciality according to the standards set by the GMC and the Royal College of Radiologists. The demands on TPDs are likely to vary at times and the guidance below should be interpreted flexibly.
