Job summary

We are looking to recruit to the post of Obstetrics and Gynaecology ATSM (Advanced Training Skills Modules) Director.

This post will be a seconded contract for 3 years with the possibility of extending this contract for a further 2 years.

This post is for 2 hours per week (0.5EMC) and equates to £5000PA.

Main duties of the job

Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the placements, rotations, and assessments of the ST 6-7s with the Head of School and TPD 3-7.
  • To ensure, in combination with the TPD 3-7, that the ST 6-7 trainees have access to the necessary training opportunities to gain their advanced curriculum and ATSM requirements (curriculum mapping), and to ensure they are using the e-portfolio appropriately. This will involve working with the College Tutors and their Educational Supervisors.
  • To advise the School Board of updates and changes to ATSM/SITMs and the advanced curriculum.
  • To deputise for the Head of School at RCOG or other HEE - Thames Valley meetings and be involved with quality management visits.
  • Oversee and coordinate ATSM/SITM training for training and non-training grades across a deanery/region.

  • Be a member of, and report to, the regions School Board/STC and will be expected to attend the regular meetings (approximately 5 6 per year).

  • Liaise with the ATSM/SITMs Preceptors (where appointed) and College Tutors to develop ATSM training programmes.
  • Take responsibility for completing the ATSM forms that are sent to the College by the trainee. Take responsibility for overseeing the provision and quality assurance of ATSM training.
  • Take responsibility for preparing material required for quality assurance by the local School Board/STC and the GMC. Provide ATSM/SITMs related career advice.
  • Take responsibility, with support from the ATSM/SITM Preceptors (where appointed), ATSM Educational Supervisor and College Tutor as necessary, for responding to the needs of trainees in difficulty.
  • Keep up to date with RCOG standards in education, new educational initiatives, and changes to the ATSM/SITM curriculum and assessment.
  • Communicate with the RCOG to provide feedback on the curriculum, implementation, and delivery of the ATSM/SITM modules within your deanery.
  • Attend the ATC meeting at the RCOG, which is held at least annually.
  • The post holder will be expected to take part in additional Board activities which include: national appointments process, ARCP panels and ATSM/SITM panel. They will also be expected to help complete the Annual Report.
