Job summary

As a Procurement Lead in the Professional Services, Corporate Services and Estates category your role will be to work closely with our stakeholders to provide exceptional commercial support through their journey, leading on everything from the internal governance through to wide ranging, complex procurements.

The team have ownership of projects from inception through to delivery and support the preparation of business cases, market engagement, oversight of specifications and associated tender documentation along with chairing moderations and the delivery of the final contracts. Working closely with the Contract management function we will drive value from every pound of public money spent in support of best value delivery.

The procurement Lead will also have the opportunity to support organisational change as part of a community of practice, feeding directly into the operational activities of the whole directorate and bringing their own perspective to our important work.

The category support everything from business critical infrastructure through to submissions to Ministers so the role is engaging and challenging within a supportive and engaging team.

Main duties of the job

The Procurement Lead is often the first point of contact in Commercial Delivery and Governance for our stakeholders so the post holder needs to be a Procurement professional capable of building rapport and relationships. Your exceptional knowledge of procurements, both simple and complex, aligned to your in depth knowledge of procurement regulations will ensure that you can both lead stakeholders through the process and develop their engagement and understanding throughout the process.

Through your experience in procurement, you will be an expert in the preparation of commercial documentation and able to guide stakeholders through the development of effective specifications, statement of works and financial models to ensure that all procurements deliver their desired outcomes. Your understanding of procurement should drive financial and performance efficiencies which can be quantified and recorded.

You will be comfortable working in a high paced environment with conflicting priorities, able to balance workload and support colleagues.

You should be experienced in using e-Tendering platforms in support of commercial delivery.
