Job summary

As a Senior manager (commissioning health and justice), the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in commissioning the delivery of effective services, collaborating with managers and staff across the East of England to fulfil all points of the commissioning cycle for health and justice services. These include primary care, secondary care and community services for mental health, physical health and substance misuse services.

The post is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate.

The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.

Main duties of the job

  • To commission high quality care and improve outcomes for people held in places of custody and detention in the east of England
  • To work collaboratively across NHS England and NHS Improvement matrix, including implementing the National Director's portfolio
  • To embed patient and public involvement within NHS England and NHS Improvement at all levels of decision making
  • Promoting equality and reducing inequalitiesTo uphold organisational policies and principles on the promotion of equality
  • To create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday action ensure we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality
  • To commission services and lead programmes which aim to drive down health inequalities in the prison population by identifying issues of inequality and addressing them
  • To collaborate with commissioning partners in the commissioning of high quality services for vulnerable people

  • To lead in specific areas including programmes, Integrated Care Board relationships and provider relationships
  • To ensure that commissioning decisions are built on evidence based medicine as available and appropriate.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

  • As a senior lead working internally and externally to deliver projects, initiatives and services to time and in a cost effective way.
  • To support the identification and sharing of best practice in to support service improvement.
  • To operate in a highly political and sensitive environment.
