Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the training programme team at Northumbria GP Training Programme. We are a flexible and innovative training programme and are seeking a highly motivated educator to join our team, helping to train the GP workforce of the future. A key area of work is to contribute to the organisation and delivery of the regional teaching programme at the Coach Lane campus site and provide support to those doctors in training who receive their teaching there. Main duties of the job
Strategic functions
Assisting the LTPD in advising the PCD of the Postgraduate School of Primary Care in the development of overall strategy and policy for development of the GP workforce
General Practice Training functions
- Assisting the LTPD in designing implementing and monitoring systems within the designated Training Programme for:
.Organisation and supervision of specialty training programmes
.Support to doctors in difficulty, including early warning, needs assessment and support to trainers of such doctors
.Training the workforce (GP Educationalists, administrative staff, GP and hospital trainers, educational and clinical supervisors, including those working in out of hours services)
.Quality Control of hospital placements
.Quality Control of GP training posts
.Providing reports for trainer accreditation
.Appraisal of GP Educationalists, administrative staff and GP trainers
.Appraisal and development of trainers
.QC of training posts
- Pro-active involvement in ARCP and MRCGP assessment processes and procedures
- Advising and supporting hospital and GP trainers, and especially those in difficulty
- Quality Management of appraisal systems
- Supporting the PCD as required to fulfil the School's agreed function.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
