Job summary

NHS England London Region is looking for a Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to support and enhance the London Region's communications output.

This is an opportunity to work across NHS England London Region's communications channels and deliver effective communications in line with the NHS England London Region communications strategies.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they can provide written briefings for journalists and political stakeholders, which include drafting press releases, reactive media statements, internal briefings and reports to the highest standard. The postholder will help to build a reputation for the regional communications and engagement team as high performing, responsive and able to deliver.

In the role the post-holder would develop strong networks with key internal and external stakeholders and partners to ensure alignment and co-ordination of work and to maximise impact, while supporting the team across a range of campaigns and communications projects.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

  • Some experience of working in a fast-paced environment, delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while also directing the work of teams/individuals
  • Good understanding of varied communication channels, their impact, limitations, risks and opportunities, and good experience in their use

  • Clear communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills; capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences.

  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands. Strategic thinking - ability to anticipate.
