Job summary

The role of the Assistant Screening and Immunisation Coordinator (ASIC) is to develop specific public health expertise to support the Screening and Immunisation Lead (SIL), Screening and Immunisation Managers (SIMs), and Screening and Immunisation Coordinators (SICs) in providing effective public health leadership for screening and immunisation programmes across the East of England. The role will be covering the areas of Essex and Suffolk or Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Main duties of the job

You will provide support to the SICs and SIMs across the full range of commissioning activities, as specified in the Section 7a agreement and as required to ensure that screening andimmunisation programmes:

Depending on experience and working pattern, the post holder may have responsibility for specific immunisation or screening programmes or a mixture of both, under the supervision of your manager, and will be expected to work as part of team to ensure coordinated and integrated delivery of individual programmes and team priorities. Programme responsibilities may change according to the needs of the service.

Daytodaylinemanagementwill be providedbytheSIC or SIM.

Postholders with a clinical background are able to maintain clinical registration within this role.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in relevant specialist area.

Knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrable knowledge in a relevant discipline (i.e. understanding of principles of population screening and immunisation)
  • Experience of operating in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects / programmes in complex and challenging environments.
