Working in the NHS Cancer Programme, you will set the agenda for cancer services in England. Working with patients, clinicians, charities, Regions, Cancer Alliances,andtrusts, our aim is to diagnose cancer earlier, increase survival and improve the quality of life and experience for cancer patients. We develop national policy and strategy and transform services for patients.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Senior Programme Manager for a maternity cover role to join the Cancer Innovation team to lead on the establishment and running of the CVLP, a collaboration between NHS England, NIHR and Genomics England, which will enable identification of potential recruits into BioNTech trials for personalised mRNA immunotherapies. The platform will need to be a generic service that will meet the needs of different companies who want to conduct cancer vaccineclinical trials.

The UK Government and BioNTech have entered into an agreement to bring innovative vaccine research to the UK with the potential to transform outcomes for cancer patients. As part of this agreement NHS England will deliver a Cancer Vaccine Launchpad (CVLP), allowing NHS cancer patients to have early access to cancer vaccines, through flagship UK cancer vaccine trials.

Essential

  • Experience in leading the implementation new innovative pathways in the NHS from design of an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and piloting the approach to evaluation and scale up nationally.
  • Experience of leading the design, set up and delivery of clinical trials or implementation pilots in accordance with the research, regulatory and operational protocol requirements
  • Experience of working on complex, multi-step diagnostic pathways e.g. involving clinical triage, pathology, genomics testing
  • Experience of managing partnerships with commercial companies and healthcare organisations
  • Experience of delivering projects through others, including external delivery partners

Skills Capabilities & Attributes
