Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team, with experience in delivering strategic quality improvement projects. The person needs to be a registered learning disability nurse.Specific responsibilities include leading on health improvement and health inequalities for people with a learning disability and autistic people within the team and across the region.

The post sits within the Regional Nursing Directorate whose overarching purpose is to provide expert advice, and to work together and across systems, sharing expertise, best practice and successes to further enhance patient care and to provide a safe, positive experience for patients and their families.

The Regional Learning Disabilities, Autism and SEND team sits within the Nursing Directorate, and brings together colleagues from Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), Specialised Commissioning, Finance, Analytics and others including external partners within the Local Government Association and London Associated Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), and Association of London Directors of Children's Services (ALDCS) to change and improve services forpeople with a learning disability, autistic people, and children and young people with SEND.

Main duties of the job

The post is responsible for providing professional expertise:

to the Learning Disabilities, Autism and SEND team, including challenging clinical practice where this is indicated

on Learning Disability Nursing to providers, commissioners and HEIs so as to create opportunities and to add value to the care and support for people with a learning disability and autistic people in all settings and develop professionally satisfying careers.

promoting clinical leadership and engagement through programmes of work

to ensure health inequalities for people with a learning disability and autistic people are consider across the region.

to work closely with the Clinical Quality Improvement Lead and Quality team to provide clinical quality leadership within the Learning Disability, Autism and SEND team and across the London region.

  • Registered Nurse Learning Disability
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of the learning disability and autism programme e.g. LeDeR, Annual Health Checks, STOMP/STAMP Experience of undertaking RCA investigations Experience of working within health improvement projects for people with a learning disability and autistic people Knowledge of health inequalities for people with a learning disability and autistic people Experience of developing new LD workforce roles
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
