Job summary

The Finance and Planning Directorate is now recruiting for the Business Co-Ordinator to the Deputy Chief Financial Officers (Deputy CFOs).

This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of work to support the NHS.

We:

* work closely with government to agree NHS funding;

* ensure the NHS lives within its annual budget;

* decide how to distribute the funding to the different NHS services and parts of England;

* support innovative programmes that improve the care and experience of NHS patients or people using NHS services;

* set out the financial and performance priorities the NHS should be delivering each year;

* report how much the NHS has spent on providing services each year;

* explore how the NHS can make the best use of its money;

* look at how spend on building or equipment can improve the care and experience of people using NHS services.

* consider how nationally we use these resources to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce inequality, improve health and support the NHS.

The team offers high profile, fast-paced projects. This requires adaptability, rigor and innovation and provides exciting development opportunities for those developing their careers in the NHS, health or the public sector. This role may be of interest either to an experienced diary manager looking for a role where their skills will be fully used or an someone looking for experience in a fast moving, high profile national setting.

Main duties of the job

As a Business Co-ordinator, you will be a key part of the support team for the Deputy CFOs at NHS England. You will provide a high-functioning, reliable, and well-informed business support service covering all aspects the Deputy CFOs' work, including the day-to-day management of Deputy CFOs' diaries, correspondence and other logistics. The post working will liaise with colleagues within NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care, other Government Departments, and NHS organisations, all at the most senior level.

Experience of using own initiative, to organise and prioritise own and others' workloads to changing and often tight deadlines. Ideally in a Private Office, Personal Assistant or Business Support role.

Comfortable working with a high level of complexity and ambiguity, flexibility to work with uncertainty and change

Be proactive, taking the initiative to ensure prompt receipt of papers, quickly identify issues and resolving them or escalating them as necessary.

Clear and confident communicator, including the ability to support the development of internal and external communications

Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in both verbal and written communications

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
