Job summary
NHS England - South East Region Medical Directorate wishes to appoint a Professional Standards Officer. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting colleagues across the Performance, National Performers List and Appraisal and Revalidation Sectors.
The Professional Standards Team is responsible for ensuring high quality and safe primary care services by managing any concerns relating to primary care practitioners across the three (GPs, dentists, and opticians) independent contractor groups. Our priority is patient safety, and by working with primary care practitioners we endeavour to maintain the provision of safe clinical services to patients.
As a Professional Standards Officer you will take a lead role in supporting the management of performance cases by scheduling and administering panels. Ensuring all documents are correctly shared with panel members, outcomes are correctly filed, and conflicts of interest are appropriately managed.
The role includes the management of workflow tasks on PCSE Portal. Reviewing items listed in the RICs queue and supporting the process of mandatory removals from the national performers list.
The team have built a resource hub on NHS Futures, which requires maintenance on a regular basis, this role will provide support in the reviewing of materials and supporting updates.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be required to work effectively as part of the Professional Standards team and autonomously.
The post holder will work confidently within the confines of NHS England policies and procedures, and Regulations.
Provide high quality project, service, initiative and administrative support including information and analysis.
Manage the day to day communications via the generic inboxes, PCSE Portal and Athena.
Provide support to practitioners and providers in navigating the processes for inclusion on the national performers list.
Undertake reporting and analysis of information to support the delivery of the professional standards team.
Ability to pull together comprehensive draft reports, data and meeting minutes.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to re-prioritise.
Advanced keyboard skills, use of a range of software, skilled at minute taking.
Experience of using internal management systems; Athena,PCSE Portal,Compass andRevalidation Management System

About us
The Professional Standards Team (whose functions include Performance, Appraisal and Revalidation and National Performers Lists Management) is responsible for ensuring high quality and safety of primary care services by managing any concerns relating to primary care practitioners across the three (GPs, dentists, and opticians) independent contractor groups.
The Responsible Officer (RO) Regulations provide an unprecedented degree of leverage to ensure the quality of medical staff and safety of care across all NHS and independent sector providers. The Professional Standards Team ensures that recommendations for Revalidation are completed appropriately.
The Professional Standards Team carries out all functions associated with the Responsible Officer (RO) Regulations and support the RO in making recommendations to the GMC regarding the revalidation of NHS GPs.
The National Performers List is a statutory process where registered primary care practitioners providing primary care in England must be included on the list.
The performance of GPs, Dentists and Ophthalmic Practitioners is managed through the Performers List Regulations, RO Regulations and NHS England policies.
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
