The Blended Learning Programme, set up in September 2019, provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Programme Manager to provide additional leadership to a small and dynamic team in the delivery of various projects and programmes.

Main duties of the job

The NHS England blended learning programme aims to fully exploit innovation in digital and other technologies to provide fully interactive and innovative blended learning programmes that will meet the requirements that regulatory bodies set for pre-registration, undergraduate and postgraduate clinical programmes, where required. This is critical for the delivery of the reform ambition in the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan.

This roleisfundamental to the programme achieving its strategic aims,

  • commissioning and delivery of fully integratedblended learning courses across a range of professions

  • driving policy changes in innovative health professions education

  • contributing to evidence through local, national and international collaborations

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will deputise to the Head of Blended Learning and support the Blended Learning Project Manager to ensure that a portfolio of high-profile blended learning programmes within NHS England are delivered and promoted effectively.

The post holder will work collaboratively with key stakeholders including local and central government, regulators, regional NHS teams, Arms Length Bodies, Education Providers, and other key partners to provide assurance, guidance, and leadership. The post holder will lead the delivery of key national priorities within agreed timescales, cost and quality specifications.

Delivery of these objectives will require the post-holder to:

  • influence planning, commissioning and commercial contract management of high quality, fully integrated blended learning programmes

  • lead / chair relevant internal / external working groups, stakeholder meetings, events, and projects

  • establish and maintain strong and constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver the NHS England Long Term Workforce Plan (LTWP) and other strategic ambitions

  • challenge the status quo through promoting the benefits of research and innovation to support the growth of a qualitatively different, expert and professional workforce suited to the demands of care and service both now and in the future

  • lead the production of a series of business communication products that improve staff knowledge, awareness and engagement of NHS Englands Blended Learning mandate

  • Educated to master's level or equivalent in relevant field or holding the equivalent level of experience
  • Extensive knowledge/clinical experience of specialist area acquired through postgraduate education or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Project/Programme management, contract management or leadership training

  • Demonstrable track record of delivery of high stakes complex projects
  • Evidence of strong stakeholder engagement skills at strategic level e.g. working with regulators, professional bodies etc
  • Demonstrable track record of leading, managing and delivering multiple high stake complex initiatives simultaneously in rapidly evolving, political, and high- pressured environments- including effective management of risk

  • Experience of working with a variety of partners to commission services from a range of organisations (public, private and not for profit)
