Job summary

NHSE WT&E manages the education, training and development of NHS clinical professionals including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, doctors and dentists.

This post supports foundation pharmacist training across each ICS (Integrated care System) in the Midlands, working with the Pharmacy Education team. There is one post per ICS, of which there are 11 ICSs across the Midlands. This post is aligned to Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and Nottinghamshire ICSs.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing professional leadership, togetherwith expertise, advice and support to:*Design, create and deliver appropriate teaching, learning andassessment plans to support foundation pharmacy trainees andtheir educational supervisors.* Be an active key member of the foundation school contributingto the design and development of the pharmacy educationprogrammes and linking to the multi-professional school withshared common resources.* Support the business planning processes to provide input intothe strategic development of the work of the department.* Identify and support pharmacy trainees requiring additionalsupport.* Contribute to the availability of high quality training and supportfor pharmacy practice and educational supervisors.* Provide professional expertise on a specific portfolio of work* Manage the provision and development of resources, servicesand opportunities for pharmacists and their educators fromacross the healthcare professions.* Support equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives in pharmacyeducation.* To have an understanding and awareness of how the activities and objectives of the department align with the wider businessplanning for NHSE* Support workforce planning and workforce challenges for theICS and across the wider region.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The Midlands Pharmacy Team is responsible for supporting the delivery of the NHSE mandate by supporting the optimisation of the pharmacy workforce.As a Training Programme Facilitator for the Pharmacy Team you will provide professional expertise to the Pharmacy training and education programmes, overseeing delivery of a portfolio of programmes and interventions on behalf of the Pharmacy leadership team, with a focus on the trainee pharmacist programme across the Midlands.

The role requires excellent leadership and management skills alongside the ability to lead matrix working initiatives.Under the direction of the Foundation Training Lead your role responsibilities are defined below.

Key responsibilities include:

Designing and implementing appropriate teaching, learning and assessment plans to support trainees and their educational supervisors

Being an active member of the Trainee Team contributing to the design and development of the pharmacy education programme

Supporting the business planning processes to provide input into the strategic development of the work of the department

Identifying and supporting pharmacy trainees requiring additional support

Contribute to the availability of high quality training and support for Pharmacy Practice And Educational Supervisors

Providing professional expertise on a specific portfolio of work

Managing the provision and development of resources, services and opportunities for pharmacists and their educators from across the healthcare professions

Support equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives in pharmacy education

Overseeing a portfolio of training activity programmes

Having an understanding and awareness of how the activities and objectives of the department align with the wider business planning for HEE, in particular to HEE South East and a designated area

Working closely with system partners at an ICS level to delivery the foundation pharmacist reform agenda.

The post holder will be based at an NHSE Midlands office but may be required to work at other locations within the Midlands from time to time. You will have the opportunity to work remotely as determined by the changing needs of the business.

Essential

  • Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacist
  • Educated to a Master's level, or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior area, in Pharmacy and healthcare leadership
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare education management or commissioning, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience of training

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of education and training systems and structures in healthcare
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of managing professional support for trainees/learners and multiprofessional faculty development and associated professional teams
