Job summary

As the Public Affairs officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the communications Directorate, based in the fast past External Affairs team. The post holder will primarily provide and coordinate administrative services; including for example, preparing agendas and minutes, supporting the team with the management of projects, gathering information and arranging meetings as and when is necessary for the head of department, teams and the department. This role will lead on managing the team's CRM system, proactively preparing communications to stakeholders and ensuring distribution, assist in monitoring health related activity across the House of Commons and Lords, and lead on team evaluation and reporting. The post holder will have significant opportunities to be involved and develop experience in communications activity, stakeholder planning and briefing and political engagement.

Main duties of the job

As a Stakeholder and Public Affairs officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the communications Directorate.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • oExcellent administrative skills and the ability to manage databases on behalf of the team and other colleagues
  • oAbility and promote the reputation of NHS England in Parliament and with key stakeholder groups
  • oKnowledge of administrative procedures, project management or information analysis.
  • oGood understanding of current healthcare policy and media environment and the implications for NHS England and our stakeholders

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to re-prioritise
  • Ability to pull together comprehensive draft reports, data and letters. Negotiating, networking and persuasive skills.
