Job summary

This is a specialist TPD post within the GP School with a responsibility for the International Induction, Return to Practice and Retainer Schemes - 2 sessions available overall.

This is an exciting opportunity to take part in the development of Postgraduate General Practice and Primary Care Education throughout the West Yorkshire region of HEEYH. The postholder will work with the Deputy Head of School and other colleagues in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions to ensure the quality of training within the scheme.

Main duties of the job

GP Training Programme Directors are commissioned and appointed by NHS England, working across Yorkshire and the Humber to direct and manage specialty training placements and rotations across Local Education Providers (LEPs) and General Practices (GP).

The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Head of School in leading the delivery NHS Health Education England mandate.

The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Deputy Head of School. The Training Programme Director will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role is evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The National GP Retention Scheme is a package of financial and educational support to help eligible doctors, who might otherwise leave the profession, remain in clinical general practice.

  • Primary clinical healthcare qualification
  • Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body
  • Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development at appropriate level in the Trainer, etc.)

Desirable

  • Working towards higher professional qualification such as Diploma or Masters in Medical Education
