Job summary

The National Patient Safety Team is legally responsible for delivering statutory patient safety duties across the NHS. These are:

o collecting information about what goes wrong in the health service, in part by maintaining and operating the Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE); and

o using that information to provide advice and guidance "for the purposes of maintaining and improving the safety of the services provided by the health service".

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Learn from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) digital service operational team, as part of the NHS England's Patient Safety team as an Agenda for Change Band 5 LFPSE Business Support Officer The successful candidate for this role will be highly organised, proactive and looking for an opportunity to develop their skills and experience in a fast-paced environment.

The LFPSE digital service operational team is responsible for providing user support aligned with an ICS in the East of England to ensure the development of sound working relationships and excellent knowledge of progress, challenges and risks across LFPSE reporting user groups.

The successful candidate will be an individual who is resourceful, enthusiastic, possesses the ability to communicate effectively, is able to prioritise their own workload, has excellent time management skills and can handle information confidentially.

Main duties of the job

This role is an essential and integral post providing support to operational and improvement portfolio areas such as LFPSE data quality, reporting and applications use and troubleshooting, answering enquires, producing data and information on team and specific functions performance. There will be opportunity for the successful individual to become involved in project work aligned to the portfolio areas to ensure growth and personal development.

These responsibilities will be subject to change and post holders will be expected to respond flexibly to changing circumstances.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The role typically involves:

Administration of the LFPSE system online applications including verification and registration of new local manager users and approval of users and managing API access keys

Undertake User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of NRLS developments

Resolve reporting problems experienced by reporters

Provide support to reporters using the LFPSE system online application

Complete LFPSE system coding support to reporting organisations, referring complex questions to other experts in the Team as necessary

Keep records of all enquiries and activities with reporting organisations by documenting contacts on the LFPSE system databases

Provide support to the LFPSE system online application organisation changes process as required to keep LFPSE system organisation tables up to date

Participate in guidance production and circulation processes in collaboration with the others in the Patient Safety Team

Arrange local risk system vendor update communications and maintain the update schedule

Undertake training related to the role as necessary

To perform Local Risk Management Systems and bespoke systems compliance testing and ensuring that compliance is maintained.

To work with NHS E/I colleagues and Local Risk Management System (LRMS) vendors to monitor and evaluate LRMSs functionality and specifications in order to ensure system compliance with national standards and optimise data quality.
