Job summary
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join the Regional Nursing Team as Assistant Director Primary and Community Development. This role will be a key member of the Primary, Community and Personalised Care leadership team working across the region's nursing and medical directorates.
The successful candidate will be a credible leader with extensive experience in provider and/or system leadership within Community or Primary Care and of leading services that are urgent or for those people who are rapidly deteriorating. They will be skilled in transformational leadership, system change management, strategy development, governance and assurance, and have experience of holding a wider leadership portfolio.
This role will have a key responsibility in leading transformational change identified by national and regional priorities as well as working with systems to identify areas of prioritisation to support improvement.
Working closely with colleagues in both the national teams and in the region the Assistant Director for Primary and Community Development will deliver the national and regional Primary and Community Services development strategy ensuring a coherent approach across the region.
The post holder will lead and develop the regional Urgent Response and Acute Deterioration portfolio and support the wider Primary Community and Personalised Care team's priorities. The main portfolio programmes are Urgent Community Response and Virtual Wards.
Main duties of the job
As Assistant Director for Primary and Community Development the post holder will lead a portfolio for the team working alongside our Integrated Care Systems.This post will also have a senior leadership role with delegated work from the Deputy Director of Primary and Community Development which may be outside of the portfolio to support overarching priorities of the directorate.
The role requires strong relationships, team of teams working and excellent communication with colleagues across NHS England in particularly Urgent and Emergency Care and ICB and provider colleagues in systems.
They will:
Drive the development and implementation of and integrated strategy ensuring alignment across the region and systems
Drive reform and support system / behavioral change and uptake of initiatives that support excellence
Develop and communicate the vision for the role of innovation, and the development of strategy and operational policies
Engage with key strategic regional and national policy makers to inform development
Identify examples of national and international best practice
Support change by developing the innovation and improvement infrastructure and capacity in region, systems and when required organisations
Through credible leadership influence the adoption and spread of The Comprehensive Model for Personalised Care
