Job summary

Develop a digital point of view for the programme to drive a Digital First strategy across NHP trusts. To ensure NHP builds hospitals that provide digitally enabled care, to improve care delivery, reduce risk and increase efficiency. Ensure the development of smart buildings to improve building operations and financial sustainability. Enable the delivery of care beyond the walls of the hospital. Leverage current and future technologies to digitally empower patients and staff and ensure an interoperable and intelligent systems approach that is future proof.

As a Digital Delivery Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to deliver new intelligent hospitals as part of the New Hospital Programme. This role is key to ensuring the digital transformation ambition embodied in plans for NHP are realised in trust business cases and implementation plans.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have two primary areas of responsibility:

1. Supporting the management of the day-to-day operations and delivery of the NHP Digital Programme, working across a defined geographic portfolio with trusts and with flexibility to operate across the wider NHP Portfolio.

2. Support the development a Provider Support Offer that encompasses:

o A Business Case Review Service, including the planning of benefits

o Guidance and advice on implementation of NHP Digital Standards related to Hospital 2.0 (Intelligent Hospital) and facilitating links to wider NHSE digital transformation programmes.

o Access to SMEs (Equipping, Smart Buildings, Benefits, Technical and Commercial) to provide targeted implementation advice, guidance, good practice / lessons learned and support to increase the likelihood of successful NHP scheme delivery.

The role supports the NHP in driving transformation and innovation as well as value for money in new hospital development across planning, commissioning, and service delivery. The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery.

Essential

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area

Desirable

  • Prince 2 / MSP or other project and programme management certifications

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Subject matter expertise across at least two key areas relating to technology enabled change, infrastructure, data management, clinical and estate management systems.
  • Experience of planning digital infrastructure and systems to support new clinical pathways, new facilities/redesignation of clinical facilities, or new ways of working in operational or estates services.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.
  • Demonstrable skills in developing, leading and maintaining highly collaborative relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders and senior executives e.g. CMO, COO, CIO/CCIO/CNIO, Heads of Procurement, Heads of Department and of providing advanced, credible communications to senior management.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of major digital investment programmes; due diligence assurance of locally led programmes; funding distribution and monitoring spend against proven outcomes.
  • Experience of working within concurrent digitally enabled transformation programmes, ideally within a secondary care Trust environment that involve multiple aspects of a digital team (systems, infrastructure, integration, and development) and close engagement with the user community.
