Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an 8b Senior Quality & Safeguarding manager to join the Quality and Patient Experience team. This post forms a key part of the quality and patient experience team.
Working as part of NHSE South West Direct Commissioning and the South West Collaborative Commissioning Hub (CCH), the team provides clinical quality advice and expertise relating to the commissioning of primary care pharmacy, optometry and dental services, public health, health and justice, and specialised services.
We operate a hybrid working approach which offers you an informal, flexible way of blending home and office working. Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person. Please note the role holder will be require to travel to various locations across the South West region.

Main duties of the job
Extensive knowledge of clinical governance and safeguarding processes acquired in a senior role are essential for this role. This role will require you to;
Provide expert advice to commissioning teams and ICB quality leads relating to clinical quality and safeguarding.
Act as safeguarding lead for the region / CCH in relation to directly commissioned and delegated services.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of primary care pharmacy, optometry and dental services.
Lead and coordinate investigations and responses to adverse events, incidents and complaints.
Lead the patient safety function (including safeguarding) for the quality & patient experience team.
Lead and coordinate clinical quality assurance visits to providers.
Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including wider NHS England teams, SW CCH teams and ICB teams to respond to respond to risks, issues and concerns, drive improvements in quality of care and address health inequalities.
Provide clinical advice and professional expertise to the management of complaints relating to primary care services.
