Job summary

The Diagnostics Recovery & Transformation Programme is the largest single investment programme in the NHS in terms of capital and revenue combined .

The programme consists of a national team and seven regional teams devolved to ICS and diagnostic network level.

The National Specialty Adviser for Imaging Clinical Effectiveness is responsible for providing clinical advice to the Diagnostics Recovery & Transformation Programme as well as professional advice and support in the development of strategy and policy, including clinical and speciality oversight of effectiveness relating to performance, unwarranted variation, demand management and also if required site visits.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the other Imaging NSAs to provide a specific focus on a range of imaging activities, including:

Working collaboratively with Deputy Director of Imaging to advise on the effective delivery of the Imaging Network workstream priorities.

Supporting Imaging colleagues in the strategic evaluation of networks and their role within current and future investment priorities.

Attending the National Imaging Board to provide updates to stakeholders.

Identifying system/network clinical effectiveness risks ensuring that controls and/or mitigation are in place, escalating as appropriate.

Supporting and advise on Imaging performance in elective and cancer recovery activities including any tiering arrangements.

Educated to degree level in a relevant medical/imaging discipline and/or a relevant experience including clinical and speciality oversight of effectiveness relating to performance, unwarranted variation, demand management, and site visits
Experienced clinical practitioner with credibility and the ability to command the respect of all clinical and non-clinical professionals across primary, secondary and community care.
Significant experience of working at a national or sub-national level as a clinical leader in the speciality
The NSA is responsible for supporting senior leaders and national programmes with the provision of clinical advice including on improving population health outcomes and narrowing health inequalities within the field.
The ability to build excellent collaborative networks and develop effective and mutually supportive relationships with key partners within and throughout organisations.
