Job summary
NHS England is looking for an experienced editor to join a very busy content team. The successful candidate will play a central role in making our publications clear, readable and informative.
You will be focused on giving readers the information they need in formats that work for them while ensuring the guidance we are offering accurately reflects NHS England's objectives.
Main duties of the job
This will require highly developed editing skills. You'll often need to restructure, rewrite and cut content, while ensuring the publications you are working on stay absolutely faithful to the purposes of the authors.
You will be able to establish positive working relationships with authors and will be both confident and responsive when negotiating suggested changes with them. You will, of course, have a keen eye for correct grammar and spelling, sharp proofreading skills and an ability to quickly master our style guide and tone of voice.
We are committed to digital-first and fully accessible publishing, so we'll need you to understand user-centred content design and be passionately committed to the principle that everybody, whatever their accessibility needs, should have equal access to the information NHS England publishes.
We are looking for a team player who can work within the processes and record keeping requirements that allow us to keep on top of a very large volume of work and for someone who believes as passionately as we do that making content clear, readable and informative matters.
This is a permanent position that can be based either in London or Leeds
