Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Executive Business Officer to join a busy Business Management Team and provide a dedicated service to three very senior Directors and be part of a central business function within the Medicines Value & Access Directorate C. 85 staff which is part of the Chief Financial Officer Group within NHS England.

The role primarily supports three very busy directors, who are responsible for teams that ensure that NHS patients can benefit from the most clinically & cost effective treatments whilst delivering sustainable value for the NHS and safeguarding the supply chain of everyday medicines that patients rely upon.The role also plays a key part in a team of 7 that provide a business management function to all staff across Medicines Value & Access.

The post holder will need to be efficient, organised and be able to manage competing demands and be able to move comfortably between a number of unrelated tasks, quickly picking up new things and creating or implementing items from scratch, without guidance or supervision.

The post is based at our main London office at Waterloo and will be office based with an expectation of 4 days per week in the office and 1 day from home. Travel to other offices will be required on an infrequent basis.

Main duties of the job

The Executive Business Officer is a key role to three Directors within Medicines Value & Access and a key member of the Business Management Team that provides a service to multiple fast paced teams within the Directorate. The post holder will work as part of a team delivering an efficient and effective Business Support Service to coordinate and support managers and staff in the delivery of their key programmes.

Duties

Mailbox and diary management to the Directors and other senior staff as required including organising travel, meetings and collating related papers

Meeting attendance and minute taking for the Directors key meetings upon request

Admin support to the Directorate's Medicines related executive groups and boards

Work as part of a team and deputise for other team members as required to ensure service resilience

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of providing business support to senior managers and managing relationships between senior professionals organising and/or facilitating multi-disciplinary meetings including presenting on progress, ensuring that all actions are logged and followed up as required.
  • Experience in communications and stakeholder management. Ideally with with a range of organisations and individuals including pharmaceutical industry, clinical leaders and patient groups.
  • Manage / secretariat relevant meetings, such as the medicines executive and board meetings, including diarising, taking minutes / actions, collating papers and preparing agendas. Strong communication skills are extremely important and the ability to work to tight deadlines at a fast pace is a must have for this role.

  • Previous experience in similar role in a healthcare or public sector environment.
