Job summary
This exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Strategic Category Manager - Infrastructure in the Medicines Procurement and Supply Chain team which is part of the Medicines Value & Access Directorate - Chief Financial Officer Group.
The role will be managing the Medicines Procurement and Supply Chain processes and IT system roadmap to ensure alignment with the current and future workplan.
The role will be office based at one of our main offices in London, Leeds or Runcorn. There will be a requirement for travel to other office locations when necessary.
Main duties of the job
As Infrastructure manager you will work closely with the Head of procurement and co-ordinate closely with key stakeholders across Medicines Procurement & Supply Chain Team in ensuring that relevant IT system capabilities are harmonised to workplan requirements, whilst also owning the IT development roadmap ensuring future implementations are delivered in advance of required go live. Medicines Procurement & Supply Chain Team process creation and management is a key element of the role, ensuring all processes are fit for purpose and constantly evolving in order to deliver consistent and measurable outcomes required to assess and analyse key performance indicators.
To work closely with stakeholders such as
- Medicines Procurement & Supply Chain Team leads (Category, Strategy and Supply)
- SPS Team
- NHSE IT Team
- External system providers
- To develop relationships and work closely with stakeholders and partners in identifying priority IT and process developments to support work plans.
- To provide comprehensive, relevant and high value insight into all aspects of Medicines Procurement & Supply Chain Team system capabilities and potential future developments gathering and analysing data and stakeholder engagement feedback to support the IT system roadmap and development / implementation of processes.

Salary Progression
Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8b with a full-time starting salary of £58,972, with a pay step increase after 5 years service.
For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £5,132 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,746 per annum.
This is offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and is based on office location
