Job summary
The Associate Dean for SAS is a role which will enhance the support available for SAS doctor development in the region. The appointee will work closely with the Postgraduate Dean with responsibility for SAS Doctors, the London SAS educators network and Trust SAS Tutors/ Leads, to ensure that all SAS Doctors in the region have the opportunity to progress in their careers and maximise their potential.
Main duties of the job
- Developing the strategic implementation of support and guidance to Specialists, Associate Specialist and Specialty Doctors and Dentists across London.
- Providing mentoring and support to Trust and Specialty SAS Tutors/ Leads
Overseeing the distribution of NHSE WTE SAS resources to Trusts encouraging innovation and workforce transformation.

- Applicants should be in a substantive role in NHS clinical practice.
- oApplicants, regardless of professional background, must have a track record of professionalism in line with the principles set out in Good Medical Practice and compatible with appointment in a senior clinical educator role.
Desirable
- Able to demonstrate the importance of SAS doctors as educators
- Able to demonstrate ambition to lead the SAS workforce in London

- Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes, including an understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters.

- Current or previous experience as a SAS doctor
- Current or previous appointment in a leadership role supporting SAS doctor development.
