Main duties of the job

The Central Commercial Function, part of the NHS England Commercial Directorate, is recruiting for an exceptional leader in the field of sustainable procurement. The Head of Net Zero and Sustainable Procurement will be a senior leader in the team responsible for decarbonising the NHS, embedding social value and eradicating modern slavery in healthcare supply chains. This role will support commercial decision making and policy across NHS England as well as the wider NHS across England. Exceptional skills in leadership, collaboration, commercial execution, stakeholder engagement and policy shaping are essential.

  • Demonstrable experience of managing and prioritising a large budget with solid working knowledge of financial process requirements, and previously responsible for a budget, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes
  • Ability to provide and receive, convey and present highly complex, sensitive and/or contentious information to large groups, responding openly to questions to ensure full understanding and engagement and ability to communicate effectively with clinical, academic and all levels of staff
