Job summary

NHS England South West is advertising for 3 sandwich year student placements starting between July and September 2024.

2 of the posts will be working with the Primary Care Team and one post with the Recruitment Team all the roles can have either a Bristol or Plymouth office base.

This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate to gain experience within a professional, NHS organisation responsible for postgraduate medical and dental education across the South West. Previous students have found interesting independent study projects to develop, achieving consistently high results as part of their final-year studies.

Main duties of the job

The School of Primary Care (GP)

This placement revolves around the delivery of a specialty General Practice training programme for Junior Doctors. This will include obtaining skills in many core aspects of business including the following; Project Management (Team devised and independent), core administration (including elements of finance), event planning and organisation, data management and finally, assisting with varying scales of public sector recruitment.

Recruitment Team

This role gives you experience in all areas of the selection process for the recruitment of Junior Doctors, both locally and nationally. You will be an important team member of a fast paced and energetic team, where a high level of professionalism is required. During your placement you will see the entire recruitment process from application to offers made, where many skills will be developed such as organisational skills, IT literacy, administrative skills, interpersonal development, and attention to detail.
