This is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive team in a role that makes a real difference to our population's health.
Our core purpose is to ensure that all eligible people have access to high quality screening and immunisation programmes, maximise uptake whilst reducing inequalities. The team consists of a Commissioning/Contracting Team, working alongside 2 Screening and Immunisation Programme Teams. We are responsible for all aspects of commissioning: contracting, procurement, performance improvement and implementing programme changes.
The post-holder will be responsible for effective commissioning of the programmes in accordance with local and national commissioning strategies and priorities. You will work directly with providers to ensure national programme changes are implemented in a timely way and lead the process of securing new services where needed.
The post-holder will have strong knowledge and experience of commissioning, contract management, procurement and project management alongside a good understanding of the NHS commissioning cycle.
The post holder will be a hybrid worker based in Southampton and able to attend in-person meetings with providers and other stakeholders across the patch.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will ensure the effective commissioning of s7A programmes across the portfolio of services and contracts. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving outcomes through change implementation, service redesign, targeted investment, design of payment mechanisms and use of contract levers. The post-holder will be expected to lead on designated projects, including region-wide improvement procurement and service improvement initiatives. You will be responsible for oversight of the contracting round and leading or supporting management of complex negotiations and challenging performance issues.

Responsibility for commissioning of our programmes is due to be delegated to Integrated Care Boards from April 2025 in line with national policy, at which point the team is expected to transfer to a host ICB.
