Job summary

NHS England Midlands are pleased to announce recruitment for an Enhance Fellow.

We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Fellow with interest in medical education/leadership/social medicine to join a multi-professional team under the 'Enhance Generalist Training Program' within NHS England Midlands. The post is open to any post-graduate medical doctors in training (PGDiT), who wish to work full time or less-than-full-time (LTFT).

The post is available to PGDiT who are enrolled in or due to be enrolled in an East Midlands Training programme. Fellows may be PGDiT on OOP (Out-Of-Program) or PGDiT who have opted to work flexibly in their training programme or doctors taking time between foundation and core training or core training and higher training. The PGDiT would be required to, after approval from their Training Programme Director, train at 60% LTFT* for the 12 months of the fellowship. The remaining 40% will be spent working on a project. The post holder will be placed within their normal training programme at a location amenable to the Training Programme Director and the project supervisor.

*This will result in an extension to the CCT date.

SAS (Staff Grade and Associate Specialist) doctors and locally employed doctors (LED) are also encouraged to apply if they meet the employment criteria.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take part in the NHS England Fellowship Leadership Development Programme (attending 4 development days). The posts also come with significant NHS England funding (up to £5,000) for each appointed Fellow, towards registration fees for an academic qualification or similar development activity which has been agreed between the Fellow, Project Supervisor and NHS England.

These roles are suitable for any doctor in training who should have already completed Foundation Year 2 at the time of their application or will have completed it by August 2024 and has a passion for medical education and training.

The PGDiT would be required to, after approval from their Training Programme Director, train at 60% LTFT* for the 12 months of the fellowship. The remaining 40% will be spent working on a project.
