Job summary

The Simulation Training Programme Director in ACCS (Mersey/North West) will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the School of ACCS.

The Training Programme Director will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the School of ACCS focussing on the development and provision of Simulation Training for trainees and trainers in the North West and Mersey Regions.

The post holder will be a member of the School Board and support the School Operational Programme.

Main duties of the job

Work in collaboration with Head of School of ACCS to develop and implement simulation training for trainees and trainers in the North West and Mersey regions in line with the requirements of the Royal College Curriculum 2021.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Consultant in Emergency Medicine/Anaesthetics/ICM/Acute Medicine on the Specialist Register
  • Member / Fellow of the relevant Royal College/Faculty
  • Consultant currently working in the NHS in the North West of England

Desirable

  • Educational qualification eg Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, Masters in Medical Edcuation or equivalent such as Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators

Experience

Essential

  • A strong awareness of the challenges facing trainees in passing examinations at different stages of training as well as knowledge of the varied reasons that cause trainees to struggle.
  • Excellent knowledge of Deanery policies of relevance to identifying trainees that require examination support and knowledge of options that are available to support trainees who are struggling.
  • A recognition of the current challenges in ACCS training and a demonstrable commitment to the improvement of the Wellbeing of Emergency Medicine Trainees and Trainers.
  • Experience of organizing / delivering education programmes / courses
  • Considerable experience of working with doctors in an educational context including experience as an Educational Supervisor.
  • Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years
  • Applicants who are doctors require a Licence to Practise
  • Considerable experience of simulation training for medical staff

  • Previous or current appointment as a Leader in Healthcare Education
