Knowledge and Library Services Development Manager
Resource Discovery Team
Location: London
37 1/2 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Fixed term secondment period (1 Feburary 2024-31 July 2024)
We are looking for a professionally qualified librarian or knowledge manager to join the Resource Discovery team, delivering digital knowledge resources and infrastructure for NHS staff and learners across England.
Main duties of the job
Key elements of role include:
- Contributing to the national Resource Discovery workstream outlined in Knowledge for Healthcare (see especially section 4.4).
- Providing system leadership on priority activities including:
- Implementation and delivery of National Core Content
- Strategic management of regional library management systems
- Promotion of open access in the NHS including participation in the development of transformative agreements for the NHS
- Network and stakeholder engagement

- Degree or equivalent qualification in Librarianship / Information Science
- Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals
Skills and Knowledge

- Skilled communicator able to select from, and utilise, a range of negotiating and influencing strategies appropriate to different audiences and environments
- Capable of effective planning over medium and short-term planning horizon and with a high tolerance of uncertainty, ensuring the appropriate allocation of resources, early identification of risk
- Applied knowledge of digital knowledge resources and systems including contract management and implementation
- Understanding Open Access, repositories and transformative agreements and their place in the NHS
Desirable
- Proven ability and experience of working to a quality management system/strategy or method, ensuring processes and procedures are robust and relevant to improve the reliability of achieving the desired outcome of the project/work area

- Significant experience of strategic and operational management of library knowledge services
- Understanding of the policies, trends and developments which impact and influence healthcare and library services
- Experience of managing a library management system
