The role ofNational Online Training Programme Director is to work with and support theNational Online Training Programme Lead Head of Schoolin delivery ofa national online training programme,aligned tothe Surgery Curriculum.TheNOTPD isprofessionally and managerially accountable to theNational Programme Lead Head of School.TheNOTPD will focus upon development of a National Training Hub.

The aim is for the programme to replace didactic teaching, freeing up learner and educator time for more interactive local and regional teaching that focusses on specific skills and higher-level reasoning. To support the National Postgraduate Dean for Surgery, NOTPDs will work collaboratively within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects the needs of learners from all regions across all four nations.

Main duties of the job

  • To enable the delivery of a comprehensive series of webinars delivered by leaders in the field, covering the breadth of the curriculum.
  • To provide effective educational leadership within the specialty.
  • To provide leadership and directionwith respect to the quality ofeducation and training.
  • Towork collaboratively with other NOTPDs and others tosupport development of content in shared curricular areas.
  • To capture innovation and develop and deliver 'best practice'.
  • To be an advocate and a positive role model on behalf of NHSE, by promoting leadership that inspires, motivates and empowers all staff, and demonstrating the values of the NHS.

  • Primary clinical healthcare qualification, Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body, attendance at courses aimed to support educational development

Skills & Abilities

  • Vision and ability to innovate, problem solve and maintain objectivity. Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills with excellent organisation and time management skills, committed to own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context, and of working in a multi-professional team. Demonstrable track record of delivery in innovative projects, with active involvement in ARCP processes. Possession of a Licence to Practise.
