Job summary

The Senior Communications and Engagement Lead will report into the Head of Communications and Engagement. Their core purpose is to effectively engage with key user groups including patients, staff and local communities and ensure they are at the heart of the project. This will involve communicating key messages and plans as well as listening to them and making them feel like they have a voice and a say in outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the Programme Office is to integrate NHP, drive timely and consistent delivery of the Sponsor Team's requirements, and provide accurate and insightful information to support decision makers and build stakeholder confidence.

The Communications and Engagement function - that sits within the Programme Office - exists to ensure NHP staff, Trusts and the wider healthcare sector understand NHP plans and promoting the external profile of the New Hospital Programme.

About us

We are in the process of establishing long-term capability to deliver the New Hospital Programme - the 3rd largest programme on the Government's Major Projects Portfolio enabling the delivery of NHS's Health Infrastructure Plan.

The Programme is committed to changing the way hospitals are built and achieving significant savings through repeatable design, modern methods of construction, new approaches to clinical planning and the implementation of innovation in sustainability, digital technology, and new care methods.

This role is located in London (Canary Wharf or Wellington House) or Leeds. It is also suitable for hybrid or remote working with National travel required.

Essential

  • A bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as communications, public relations, marketing. OR Equivalent level of experience of working at a Senior level in the field of communications and engagement.
  • oStrong experience in stakeholder engagement and communications within a complex and dynamic environment like a large-scale transformation programmes.
  • oProven experience in engaging with diverse stakeholder groups with varying needs.
  • oStrong understanding of stakeholder mapping and analysis techniques.
  • oGood knowledge of engagement strategies, methodologies, and best practices, with a track record of effectively implementing them.
  • oFamiliarity with the healthcare sector and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to healthcare infrastructure transformation.
  • oExperience in utilising research, evidence, and data to inform decision-making and improve stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • oAn appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health and individual provider and commissioning organisations.
  • oExperience of building effective cross functional working relationships to drive strategic priorities.

Desirable

  • Membership or certification from a recognised professional body in stakeholder engagement, communications, or a related field e.g., International Association of Business Communicators, Chartered Institute of Marketing.
