Job summary

As a Senior Development Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Data & Analytics Sector/Area.

The post holder works with stakeholders mainly analysts within NHS England and other arm length bodies, and subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of the organisation's data and analytics strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for creation and modification of the data assets to support data tools to align with the business needs as described by the stakeholders. The key deliverable would be the creation of and management of the data preparation service within the DSfC programme to achieve objectives of consistent data quality, better patient matching and support to national/regional/local reference data.

The post holder is also responsible for the reference data management along with linking of the reference data for creation of the contextual data marts as per requirements from the business stakeholders.

The post is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate.

The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.

About us

The Data Services Team forms part of the Data, Analysis and Intelligence Service (DAIS) to provide an end-to-end data and analysis service to support the NHS in becoming data driven and delivering service transformation based on evidence. DAIS provide support at national, regional and local level, supporting the system to deliver better health and care to citizens and patients respectively through the implementation of the Long Term Plan.

The Data Services Team process and harness large volumes of data, turning this into understandable information and insight. Consistent standards are applied to enable benchmarking and analysis. This intelligence helps provide the evidence base for decisions and help deploy solutions.

  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.
