Job summary

Business analysis is an important part of the delivery of digital systems within Health Research Authority (HRA). We are looking for an experienced business analyst who has expertise in working in the full business analysis lifecycle in Agile SAFe and traditional delivery models.

As a Business Analyst (BA), you will have expertise in business analysis, including requirements elicitation, process mapping, user journey mapping, and the use of related tools. Experience in conducting feasibility studies, performing current/future state and gap analyses, and creating detailed documentation and user stories is essential. The ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications and facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders is crucial. as the post holder will work on the build for new digital systems at the HRA.

Main duties of the job

Some of the key duties for this position are:

- Apply structured approaches to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex business problems and opportunities, within a defined project

- Analyse business goals, objectives, functions and processes, using relevant information and data to support the definition of requirement

- Identify, analyse, challenge and validate business and user requirements

- Use appropriate requirements management life cycle methods to complete tasks and outputs related to the project

- Ensure proposed solutions meet business and user needs

- Work with limited direction to complete tasks and defined outputs linked to the project

- Understand the impact of potential changes and how business processes, systems, data, roles and responsibilities interact

- Develop models and system requirements for bespoke IT systems or software packages

- Identify business scenarios and develop acceptance criteria to ensure requirements can be traced to develop functionality

This role sits within HRA Digital. The HRA Digital directorate is responsible for developing, delivering and supporting complex solutions within the HRAs portfolio of national information systems for health research. This includes a major programmeto build a new Integrated Research Application and Workflow system and to achievethe successful migration and eventual closure of current systems (IRAS and HARP).

The HRA Digital team is a collaborative, supportive team consisting of HRAemployees, secondees, contractors and vendors.

The Business Analyst will be a part of a highly successful team working within the HRA Digital Directorate, responsible for developing, delivering and supporting complex solutions within the HRAs portfolio of national information systems for health research. This includes a major programme to build a new Integrated Research Application and Workflow system and to achieve the successful migration and eventual closure of current systems.

The Business Analyst will work across our digital estate and whilst they have a strong focus on the Research Systems Programme, their responsibilities extend to all digital projects and services. They liaise with internal stakeholders (business,technical and project management teams) and externally with HRA partners and system suppliers.
