Job summary
12-month Fixed Term Contract (start date early December 2024)
You will be providing professional expertise for governance arrangements for NHS Resolution, particularly in the areas of assurance and risk management, and in the context of an organisation managing key transformation programmes.
You will be joining an established Team whose purpose is:
- Providing assurance that the organisation is acting within and is compliant with legislation and following best practice guidance.
- Support the delivery of strategic aims by ensuring that products and services are delivered through appropriate governance arrangements.
- Working with all areas to support them in all areas of Corporate Governance.
- Supporting the Board, Audit and Risk Committee and Senior Management Team, in reporting on the framework for assurance
- Managing NHS Resolutions Information Governance and Security requirements, including data protection, records management, information security, ISO 27001, freedom of information and knowledge and information management
- Complaints and incidents management
- Effective risk management
- Managing the Internal Audit supplier and ensuring recommendations from Audits are implemented
- Managing the Local Counter Fraud Specialist supplier and supporting anti-fraud and bribery at NHS Resolution
- Ensuring policies and procedures are fit for purpose
- Ensuring sufficient Business Continuity arrangements are in place
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for ensuring continuous improvements related to the corporate governance and risk management frameworks. Ensuring secretariat duties for the Governance groups are in place as well as providing secretariat duties for Board sub- Committees.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with NHS Resolutions Senior Management Team as well as the Board and Audit and Risk Committee members. There is a focus on further professionalising and improving the service the corporate governance team provides to ensure the team is efficient and effective whilst leading on best practice governance.
What we are looking for:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written including report writing
- Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely reports for key governance, senior management team and Board meetings
- Highly developed analytical reasoning, effective decision-making skills and an ability to identify and manage risks and make independent judgements/decisions
- Ability to work autonomously, to plan, organise, manage and prioritise own workload, using own initiative and working to tight deadlines
- A logical and thorough approach to problem solving and managing dilemmas where no obvious solution exists

Claims Management: delivering expertise in handling clinical and non-clinical claims to members of our Indemnity Schemes.
Practitioner Performance Advice: providing advice, support and interventions in relation to concerns about the individual performance of Doctors, Dentists and Pharmacists.
Primary Care Appeals: offering an impartial tribunal service for the fair handling of Primary Care contracting services.
Safety and Learning: supporting the NHS to better understand and learn from claims, concerns and disputes; to target safety activity while sharing learning across the NHS.
