motivated and experienced Estates Officer Mechanical Engineer. This key role is responsible for the safe,
efficient and compliant operation of mechanical and associated building
services across Trust premises. You will lead and manage engineering
maintenance activities, contractors and in-house teams, ensuring statutory
compliance, high technical standards and continuity of critical hospital
services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estates
professional to contribute directly to patient safety and service delivery.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will manage day-to-day engineering maintenance across Trust
facilities, diagnosing complex faults and ensuring effective repairs to
critical plant, services and equipment. You will oversee direct labour and
contractors, manage minor capital and revenue works, contribute to capital
programmes and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. The role
includes acting as an Authorised Person for specialist systems, supporting
emergency response via the on-call rota, and working closely with clinical and
non-clinical teams to maintain a safe, efficient healthcare environment.

the cost-effective operation, maintenance and development of mechanical and
associated engineering services across Trust premises. Responsibilities include
planning and delivering maintenance programmes, managing contractors and direct
labour, preparing specifications, administering contracts and overseeing minor
capital works.
The post holder will investigate engineering
failures, carry out condition surveys, manage authorised person duties for key
systems including medical gases, ventilation, water, lifts and HV/LV services,
and ensure compliance with statutory and health and safety requirements. The
role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, financial awareness and
the ability to respond to operational incidents, including participation in the
estates on-call rota.
