Job summary

Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and highly motivated Director of Estates.

The Director of Estates will be part of the organisation's established, dynamic Estates, Facilities and Procurement management team.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will take the lead responsibility for the strategic leadership, management, technical expertise and specialist lead for provision of Estates Services (Hard FM) on behalf of Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL), to the Shareholder; County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

As the Director of Estates you will work cohesively with the Contract and Performance Management, Facilities and Procurement Teams.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Estates will carry continuing responsibility for the strategic leadership, management, technical expertise and specialist lead for provision of Estates Services (Hard FM) on behalf of Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL), to the Shareholder; County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust .

Estates Services includes:

Capital Projects

Clinical Engineering

Contract & Performance Management of the QEF Estates Contract on the DMH site. Contract & Performance Management of Hard FM Services, across NHSPS sites where CDDFT are tenants.

Contract & Performance Management of Hard FM Services, across CHP sites where CDDFT are tenants.

Estates Engineering and Building Maintenance

Estates Backlog, Fire, Health and Safety Programme

Medical Devices

Medical and Surgical Equipment Programme

Property Management

Technical support to the PFI Manager in relation to the 3 individual PFI Project Agreements for Hard FM Services on 3 separate hospital sites.

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent
  • Degree in an Engineering or Building Services related subject.
  • Member of relevant professional body such as IHEEM, IET or CIBSE
  • Masters Degree or equivalent healthcare estates specialist experience in a suitable engineering or building services subject.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience supplemented by relevant training to the delivery of Estates Leadership and Management
  • Able to demonstrate continuous professional development in leadership and management

Special Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of all statutory legislation (for example H&S codes of practice, COSHH, Building and Engineering Law) and Department of Health requirements applicable to Health Service premises.

  • A good understanding of the JCT standard forms of contract and other procurement methods.
  • Be conversant with the CDM Regulations and HTM design guides.
  • Proven leadership skills.
