Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to start a career in Medical Engineering, working for AGH Solutions who are a wholly owned subsidiary of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be enrolled onto a 2-year programme to complete a Level 4 Healthcare Science Diploma. Apprentices will develop personal and professional skills and Management of Medical Devices through on the job training whilst shadowing experienced members of the team.
Applicants must hold a minimum of 5 GCSE's including English Language, Mathematics and a Science, Grade C/4 and above (or equivalent) . Level 3 qualification in a relevant Engineering subject (i.e. BTEC Level 3 Diploma) or A Levels in Mathematics and a Science subject is desirable.
A valid driving licence will be beneficial for this post but not essential.

Main duties of the job
To observe, learn and assist, under supervision, in the full range of work in the Medical Engineering Department. This work will include commissioning, repair, planned maintenance, decommissioning and inventory management of electronic, mechanical and medical gas equipment.
You will primarily work at the Airedale General Hospital site but maybe required to work at other sites such as Skipton General Hospital, Ilkley Coronation and Castleberg Hospital.
Alongside your practical duties you will undertake a work based Level 4 Qualification in the Healthcare Science Apprenticeship training programme. You will attend on-line learning sessions for one day a week with our training partner Avensys Medical and Dudley college. You will be expected to travel to the training centre for a few days per year.
Because of how the apprenticeship levy is accessed for training apprentices, applicants who already hold a degree will not be considered.
