Full Time working pattern details
Positions in three shift patterns are advertised:
1 ) Rolling 12hr shift pattern, 40.5hr contract
Week 1 - Mon/Tues off
Weds/Thurs 1200hrs x 0000hrs shifts
Fri/Sat/Sun off
Week 2 - Mon/Tues 1200hrsx0000hrs shifts
Weds/Thurs off
Fri/Sat/Sun 1200x0000hrs shifts
2) Rolling 12hr shift pattern, 40.5hr contract
Week 1 - Mon/Tues off
Weds/Thurs 0730hrs x 1930hrs shifts
Fri/Sat/Sun off
Week 2 - Mon/Tues 0730hrsx1930hrs shifts
Weds/Thurs off
Fri/Sat/Sun 0730x1930hrs shifts
3) Monday to Friday 37.5hr contract
Week 1 0800x1600hrs
Week 2 0900x1700hrs
Week 3 1000x1800hrs
Week 4 1100x1900hrs
Bank work
This can be both pre-planned and ad-hoc as need arises. Opportunities to work across the 24hr clock will occasionally be offered.

Main duties of the job
As a Porter you will be do the fetching and carrying of supplies, furniture, blood, samples, the pushing and pulling of waste bins, laundry cages, and most importantly the careful, compassionate and sensitive movement of patients around the hospital. All these tasks are vital to making the hospital run smoothly. This is a physically demanding role, you will be on your feet for many hours of the day. This is an enjoyable and rewarding job that makes a real difference to people's lives.
Applicants will be expected to perform the porter role in all relevant departments (Pool room, Post room, Emergency Department, Operating Theatres, Radiology, Acute Assessment Unit, Pharmacy).
You must have excellent communication skills and have experience of dealing with a diverse cross section of the community. You must be ready to provide a professional, courteous and flexible Portering service, and align yourself to the Trust' core values:
