Job summary
The post holder will have responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of the Trusts Capital programme under the direction of the Senior Capital Projects Manager. This will include taking a lead role in the design and construction phases of new build and refurbishment projects whilst also providing valuable input at the planning stage to support the development of concept designs and the project brief. The role is challenging and it is expected that the candidate is experienced in stakeholder engagement, chairing project meetings, budget management, implementing appropriate procurement and contract routes, project team appointment, contract administration and programme management.
Main duties of the job
- To lead on delivery of the Trust Capital programme and backlog maintenance schemes as designated by the Senior Capital Projects Manager
- Responsible for direct management of the in-house team, admin team and external sub-contractors
- Manage projects in excess of £5m pounds from inception to completion within area of responsibility and in conjunction with HDFT
- To assist the Head of Estates and Senior Capital Project Manager on major projects, taking lead responsibility on any nominated schemes as directed
- Act as Client as and when required to support the development of the PCI and appointment of a Principal Designer
- To deputise for the Senior Capital Project Manager as instructed.

- Engage with local site teams, clinicians, Board, and trust wide stakeholders at all relevant project boards and project meetings.
- To determine the most appropriate procurement strategy and contract terms taking into account the scale and complexity of a project and the level of risk to the organisation
- Ensure appropriate management of all phases of the construction project including procurement and contract for all schemes under your control.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders that enhance the reputation of the company and develop strong working relationships with HDFT

- o Degree or equivalent level qualification in Engineering, Building or Project Management
- o AutoCAD to prepare detailed drawings
- o Project Management Qualification or equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- o Project Management Experience on both small and large scale schemes
- o Sound knowledge of building services found within a healthcare environment.
- o P22 or P23 experience
Skills and Aptitudes
Essential
- o Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- o Ability to meet objectives whilst working under pressure.
- o Ability to display leadership qualities and assist trade operatives in carrying out their tasks.
