Job summary

The HIF Waste Porter will ensure a high quality, timely, responsive, cost-effective and pro-active Healthcare waste collection, transportation and disposal service, to meet the needs of the Company on behalf of the wards and departments under Harrogate & District Foundation Trust (HDFT).

Main duties of the job

The HIF Waste Porter's role is to provide collection, transportation and disposal of Healthcare and Domestic waste streams, safely and appropriately segregating in accordance with regulations and to the standards required, whilst delivering an effective and efficient service that meets contractual obligation, KPI's and in accordance with agreed Company and Trust policies, procedures, British Law and Legislation and with a positive and professional demeanour.

About us

Within HIF The Internal Waste Management Team work as a team to provide the best possible standards and services for the Company and the Trust.

The Company shall provide an Internal Waste Management Service to manage the movement of both healthcare and domestic waste streams, within the Harrogate District Hospital (HDH) and other sites as instructed by the Portering & Logistics Manager and/or the HIF Waste Specialist.

The Internal Waste Management Service provides 24 hours per day, 365(6) days per year (HDH) and from 06:00 to 14:00 Monday to Sunday and 14:00 to 22:00 the Internal Waste Management Team will be responsible for all internal waste collections, transportation and disposals. The Portering Service will assume responsibility between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 Monday to Friday and weekends. The Internal Waste Management Team may be requested to also cover 22:00 to 06:00 and/or weekend shifts where required, but with appropriate notice and agreement via HIF management.
