York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP is recruiting a motivated and experienced Capital Projects Manager with atrack record of delivering healthcare construction and refurbishment projects.

Working under the direction of the Head of Capital Projects, you will oversee a variety of major building, refurbishment, and estate infrastructure upgrade projects as part of a helpful and supportive team. It will be your main duty to manage and deliver projects in line with regulatory requirements, best practices, and Trust policies. A basic prerequisite for ensuring that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and with acceptable quality is the ability to manage construction contractors, design consultants and a range of internal and external stakeholders successfully.This includes creating and monitoring project plans and reporting on progress.The ability to effectively manage project risks, issues, actions, and make decisions is also key as is the ability to address roadblocks and escalate complicated issues when necessary.
Main duties of the job
Key duties of the job will include:
- Lead and manage building projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Undertake all scheme-specific Project Management and procurement duties aligned with the RIBA Plan of Work stages 0/1 - 7 for a range of major building, refurbishment and/or engineering infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Take the principal role in planning and design of projects and leading collaboration ofa group of multi-disciplinary stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, NHS staff and patients, to develop project specifications and designs meeting the healthcare facility's requirements,
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential issues and propose appropriate solutions.
- Prepare project plans, budgets, schedules and monitor progress against milestones.
- Coordinate and supervise construction activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and relevant regulations. Including out of hours works where required.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect work quality and address any issues or concerns.
- Manage project contracts and procurement processes, ensuring value for money and adherence to procurement guidelines.
- Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among project team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
