The Head of Operational Estates will be accountable to the Managing Director of YTHFM, holding responsibility for the operational delivery and leadership of the Estates operational service. They will ensure that all planned preventative and corrective maintenance is carried out in an efficient, safe, prioritised and customer focused manner. This will include providing guidance and support to Estates operatives to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance.
The post holder will be the lead for all Estates specialisms, including pressure systems, lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations, asbestos, legionella, water systems, low voltage, high voltage and piped medical gases, assuming responsibilities of the authorised person's role as required.
The Estates team is a patient, visitor and staff driven department focused in delivering a range of high quality, safe Estates services in a cost effective, consistent, and friendly manner. The Estates Team play a crucial role in the way that care is delivered and the environments in which all staff work, and this has a direct impact on patient and staff experience. The Head of Operational Estates is responsible for ensuring all the team are aware of this and keeping the customer updated at
all times.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to attend meetings with contractors, Clinical and non-Clinical staff at all levels, and act as Chairperson where required, taking and distribution of meeting notes as required.
Responsible for the preparation of regular reports, including facts and recommendations to the senior management team and Trust on plant status, energy efficiency, emergency situations, personnel issues, service failures, labour performance, progress on specific schemes, financial matters and any other items/subjects as might be required.
The role will also include responsibility for the development of a three and five-year rolling back log maintenance and equipment replacement plans. This will cover and impact upon all Trust sites and services, and require collaborative working with clinical and technical colleagues to understand and priorities, using influencing and negotiation skills. This should be continuously reviewed, actions updated through regular condition survey.
The post holder will be based at York Hospital and manage a portfolio of other premises, including Scarborough, Bridlington, Marlton and Selby Hospitals and a range of Trust owned sites across the organisation.
