Job summary
The Housekeeper/ Hotel Services Assistant is responsible for cleaning the hotel bedrooms including making beds, cleaning bathrooms and might be required to complete additional cleaning tasks in the back of house and public areas (including car park, loading bay and help with linen responsibilities). Ensure that hotel rooms are clean, tidy and inviting for guests. The housekeeper is required to report all maintenance issues in their work area to the supervisor.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake all general cleaning duties to a high standard within your daily assigned areas
- Clean hotel rooms to the required standards and by required deadlines
- Change bed linen and towels
- Make beds
- Vacuuming floors
- Dusting and polishing furniture
- Cleaning bathrooms
- Replacing stock of guest's supplies, such as shampoo, soap, brochures etc.
- Re-stocking drinks in mini-bar (where applicable)
- Re-stocking and cleaning equipment used
- Assisting in the servicing of public/back of house
- Assisting with guest request and queries
- Following departmental procedures
- Liaising with team members, supervisors, managers and guests
- Clean kitchen areas to include defrosting freezers, cleaning trollies, trays, cupboards, drawers and work surfaces
- Cleaning of sanitary area, to include sinks, showers, baths, WC's and sluice rooms
- Cleaning of floor areas, to include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and buffing using various floor machines
- Emptying all rubbish containers including clinical waste, having an awareness of the risks of infected waste, securing and labelling of bags, placing at appropriate collection point and cleaning container
- Ensure that all cleaning equipment, materials and cleaning trolleys are clean and stored in the correct manner
- Keep up to date with any local training
- You are required to work in any area deemed necessary by the cleaning supervisor, to be flexible and able to cross areas when required
