Job summary
A 37.5 hour, 5 day week is worked, however it will be the responsibility of the post holder to work any essential overtime as may be required to fulfil the needs of the role.
The post holder will carry out necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of electrical and mechanical engineering services and the building plant located in the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will undertake specific maintenance tasks and will carry out maintenance and repair across a wide range of interconnected highly complex plant and equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
As an Electrician you will liaise with the management team on a daily basis in order to carry out work duties and report any issues. You will also liaise with all the other members of the Estates Department on a regular basis to assist each other and share knowledge.
During your working duties you will have regular contact with all levels of staff, patients and contractors where you will be expected to explain the problems, offer solutions and be able to explain the impact of your work on their departments service delivery.
They will participate in an on-call rota system to provide a flexible out of hour's service throughout the night for all emergency jobs, covering all possibilities including building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades. Whilst on a callout they will be expected to risk assess, diagnose, repair, or make safe to ensure a safe environment for staff and patients.
Undertake electrical installations, inspection and testing in line with the latest edition of the wiring regulations BS7671. As an appointed Competent Person for Low Voltage installations, you will work in accordance with HTM06 guidelines. Undertake essential / emergency repairs and safe electrical isolation procedures in line with HSE guidance.
