Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Gloucestershire Managed Services in the Strategic Asset Services Capital Team for a Senior Capital Project Manager to join our team.

The post holder will take the lead role on major capital projects from conception to commissioning and post project evaluation, including planning, managing, appointing and managing external contractors, and facilitating and monitoring the progress of specific major projects across sites to ensure they are delivered in an efficient manner, to an agreed timeframe and within approved financial limits. The Senior Project Manager will manage the relationship between the Trust and the Project Teams and manage the stakeholder matrices.

This role will be an integral part of the GMS Strategic Asset Services - Capital Asset Management team and services the department provides.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHSFT has two main sites at Cheltenham General Hospital & Gloucester Royal Hospital. The Senior Capital Project Manager will work across both these sites and the role will also cover all the other minor areas of the Trust estate.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is responsible for the delivery and development of high-quality project and professional services achieved through the engagement of the workforce, customers and other stakeholders.

The role will require effective leadership and management within the Capital Asset Management team on a day-to-day basis. The postholder will provide appropriate, effective high quality service delivery in accordance with defined requirements and the support required for the ongoing development and delivery of projects.

The postholder will be required to follow Gloucester Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, GMS and other healthcare provider's policies and procedures and participate in audits from internal and external sources.

This will include ensuring demonstrable evidence of all necessary compliance issues.

The Capital Team work across both the major sites of the Trust and the skillset within the team covers multiple technical disciplines. The team maintain close relationships with colleagues in other GMS teams and with relevant teams withing GHFT.

  • Member of professional body e.g., CIOB, RICS, RIBA, CIBSE,IWFM(BIFM), IHEEM
  • Project Management qualification or demonstrated equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Educated to master's degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent level of Risk & Safety Management Competency/Professional qualification in discipline related to health and safety, e.g., Master's in Risk and Safety Management
  • Leadership Qualification Occupational Health & Safety Management
  • On-going professional development in relation to the Healthcare Environment: CDM Co-ordinator Change/Project Management Qualification e.g., APM/PRINCE2

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of managing diverse professional teams in the implementation of change and business improvement and associated budgets.
  • Extensive relevant safety operational management at senior level.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of service delivery and workforce plans, policies, procedures/process and systems development
  • Ownership of own budget and an ability to deliver services within the defined envelope
