Job summary

This Business & Administration apprenticeship at Gloucestershire Managed Services is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills and become part of the Materials Management Services. You will be responsible for assessing and ordering goods with an annual value of c£7,000,000. The average inventory volume for a typical ward is 300 products, with deliveries weekly or twice weekly and the number of products replenished per department is approximately one third of the total inventory. You will manage an average of 25 wards or departments each week.

Main duties of the job

The Materials Management apprentices would be managed by the Materials Management Supervisor and will be supported to carry out core tasks including:

  • To work within a small team responsible for providing a quality logistics service to our front line staff treating and caring for patients.
  • Managing stocks of consumable products using bar coded data capture and ensures that clinical staff always have access to the correct product when they need it
  • Raises requisitions / orders on behalf of users and liaises with supply chair partners / suppliers

The maximum working week is 37.5 hours / week, Monday to Friday 08:30 hrs till 16:30 hrs - to be agreed; these hours will be on a weekly rota. This includes a daily unpaid break of 30 minutes.

The young person (under 18 years) will have a break every 4.5 hours worked; there is no weekend working.
