Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 registered clinician to take on the role of NMP at HMP Stoke Heath Category C Young Offenders & adult male prison.

The successful candidate will work within the clinical substance Use Service to assume a 'key Prescriber' role, including the allocation of complex patients, with responsibility for the delivery of medical aspects of the care plan, relevant support and psychotherapeutic interventions, and for communication regarding the patient within the team and with relevant agencies

Main duties of the job

o Delivery of regular Independent NMP clinics weekly depending on the service needo Provide expert support to new NMPs and all prescribing, and nursing staff.o Provision of healthcare treatments and procedures (including health screening, blood borne virus screening) for people accessing our service in line with the public health and wellbeing agendao Support and train staff in substance use disorder and alcohol related disorderso To provide clinical supervision on a monthly basis to staff in the absence of Clinical Leado To line manage nursing/recovery staff as requiredo To deputise for the Clinical Lead in their absence

Qualifications

Essential

  • Nursing or Pharmacist qualification and a registered practitioner with the NMC or GPC, or relevant allied Health professional qualification registered with that professional body

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as an Independent NMP within a drug and alcohol service
  • Evidence of working effectively at a senior level in a multi-disciplinary health and social care setting
  • Significant demonstrable experience of harm reduction approaches to working with people who use substances. This must include knowledge of Naloxone, overdose prevention strategies and needle and syringe programmes
