Job summary

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Sexual Health Nurse Team Lead to work within the integrated Sexual Health Service in Shropshire.

The post holder carries day to day responsibility for the clinical and operational management and delivery of services within the Integrated Sexual Health Service in line with the Trust Values.

The post holder will ensure that a high-quality service is delivered within this specialist area and that all National and Trust targets and standards are adhered to including the recording of information within the IT systems. The post holder will be responsible for the management of staff within the team, leadership, the delivery and delegation of management supervision and ensuring appropriate clinical / professional supervision takes place as per Trust Policy.

The post holder will support staff in clinical areas to develop and maintain clinical practice knowledge and skills which will enhance the clinical competence of individuals and the team to improve provision of the fundamentals and specialist care in the sexual health setting.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with the clinicians to provide support for departmental training courses and provide clinical opportunities for post registered professionals to develop their knowledge and skills in Contraception and Integrated Sexual Health.

In conjunction with the service manager, operational manager and multi professional partners they will develop the provision and quality of sexual health services for patients. They will support the Nursing Management Team in development of standard operating procedures within the service reflecting current evidence and guidelines for best practice. This will demonstrably reflect the principles of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, cost effectiveness as well as Trust and National Policy.

The post holder will provide 50% of time in direct clinical contact as a clinical expert and role model and 50% of time as operational team lead, with flexibility within both of these roles to support the service as required.
